SLJ Week 2 day 1 Bonus - Fladers Fields

A poem was created for those New Zealanders who gave their lives for our country. It was created by John MCcrae and it is called Flanders Fields. This poem made me feel sad because the soldiers had to leave their love ones behind. I also feel sad for those parents who lost their children in the war but I feel proud to be New Zealander.

  1. Hey there Alex, my name is Billy from the Summer Learning Journey programme. It's great to see you are blogging and working hard over your summer break.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the poem, 'In Flanders Fields'. I am glad you have identified that it makes you feel both sad and proud. I felt extremely grateful reading the poem. Thankful for the families of the time who lost their loved ones and sacrificed so much for us to enjoy our freedom.

What was your favourite line from the poem and why?

    Thanks, Billy

  2. Hi Billy,

My favourite line from the poem is loved and were loved, and now we lie in Flanders Fields.

This line really remind us something and encourage me to be ready for my country.
