SLJ- week 1 day 5 activity 1 Logging

I  think that logging is very bad because, cutting down tress is bad for the environment a lot of animals lose there homes because of logging, also trees produce oxygen for us and cutting down the trees, we humans lose oxygen and the less oxygen its going to be hard for people to breathe.

  1. Hey there Alex, my name is Billy and I am from the Summer Learning Journey programme. It's great to see that you've completed all of the first week for the SLJ activities. I hope you keep it up all throughout January.

I've enjoyed reading and learning about your stance on logging in New Zealand. You've provided two excellent reasons for why we shouldn't cut down trees; damaging animal's homes and because trees provide us with oxygen.

If we aren't able to cut down tree in New Zealand then what do you think we could use to make furniture and build houses?

    Thank you,
    Billy.

    1. Hi Billy

That is a great question, I think that we could make furniture from different materials or we could cut the trees but regrow them.

  3. Hello Alex,
I am Vitaraag. I agree with all of your points. I think you have put so much effort into these blog posts I am so looking forward to reading some new ones. Logging is so bad for the environment. I think that logging should be allowed but after one tree is cut down you have to plant another one in the same place. Maybe next time you could say what you think the world would be like if there was no trees. Keep up the amazing work!

  4. Hi Alex, I have just returned from Wellington and driving through the city today we saw so many logs ready to be shipped at the Wellington wharf. I have never seen so many logs in my life. I was very sad when I saw them because I know they have been taken from New Zealand's environment. What do you think is the purpose of cutting down the trees? What industries are benefiting from cutting down the trees? What can we do to prevent this from happening?
