It does look like it would be a lot of fun! But yet very challenging. I like how you have picked up on those differences. You would need to have great teamwork skills. How could you practice those skills do you think?
I wouldn't want to be in a Waka Ama race because I'm not very good at swimming and would be afraid of falling out of the Waka!
