Matariki

What is Matariki

What is Matariki? Matariki is Maori name for the star cluster or pleiades and it is maori new year. Other cultures celebrate it like Samoa Tonga and Hawaii.

Why we celebrate Matariki? We celebrate Matariki because this is the Maori new year in matariki you can see seven stars known as the seven sisters there are more stars than seven but the naked eye can only see 7.

What they eat? They eat seafood birds seals and other seafood they also get together as a family and have a big feast with all the food they gather.


So this is what they do on Matariki.
