The three good things about working for the DOC Department of Conservation
1. I love lizards
2. I would love to save these lizards from going to extinction
3. Lizards are great small animals and I like how they use there tail to get away from predators
Bad things
1. The lizards could come in the house and maybe get into foods storage and that stuff.
2. Its hard to find the lizards if they get lost because they are so small.
3. If the lizards die.

ReplyDeleteThis is Susie from the SLJ team. I enjoyed reading through your list of pros and cons of becoming a DOC ranger. I agree with you that working with the animals in the wild could involve unexpected incidents such as getting your food stolen!
I think it is really important to have workers such as the DOC rangers to help us prevent certain species from becoming extinct. The world would be so much less without these creatures. What other animals would you like to save from extinction? Do you have a favourite?
Also, taking everything into consideration, I would like you to think about whether you want to become a DOC ranger or not. Remember all jobs will have its own pros and cons but it really depends on whether you think the job will suit your passion/beliefs or not. You will need to love your job so that it eliminates the cons and you can have the mindset to change it into a whole new learning experience. So... what do you think? Would you like to be a DOC ranger? Be honest!
