ANZAC Poetry

WALT: Make conclusions about how characters are feeling throughout the text.
SC: Complete a timeline showing grandpa’s feelings with the addition of pictures.




The writer has written the poem about remembering his time in the war.
The poem has 9 verses. A verse is like a paragraph but used in poetry and lyrics.


Answer with full sentences
eg. Who is your teacher in Room 7?
Correct: Mrs Parker is my teacher in Room 7
Wrong: Mrs Parker


  1. In verses 2-4 how does the poem make you feel?  The bad memories in verse 2-4 made feel scared and sad.
  2. In verses 6-8 how does the poem make you feel? The good memories 6-8 made me feel happy when he told the grandson good things about the war.
  3. Why do you think Grandpa decided NOT To tell his grandson the first things that came into his memory? Because he didn't want him to be afraid of anything.
  4. Make a timeline for each verse of the poem to show how grandpa is feeling. Add an image for each verse also. The first one has been done for you

I learned to know how the character was feeling. It was difficult to find pictures and paste them. It was hard but I enjoyed it.
