Great choice of athlete, Alex, Valerie Adams is very inspirational and very talented. She is one of the pre-eminent shot putters in the world! It is pretty amazing that she's also from New Zealand and siblings with another amazing athlete, Steven Adams. Have you ever heard of Steven? He plays basketball in the United States of America (NBA) for a team called the 'Oklahoma City Thunder.'
This year both Steven and Valerie have had their ups and downs. Steven's team lost in the NBA play-offs and Valerie suffered an injury. She appears to be feeling better, however, and I think that she may win a medal at the Rio Olympics next month. Fingers crossed!
